Gab #25

 Technique: Rock n' Roll
Did you know there is actually a  rock n' roll stamping technique? I found out about it four hours before I was to have this posted.
Supplies: 2 stamp pads; complimentary or contrasting colors
1 stamp
card stock
Technique: rock the stamp on the lighter of the two colors, then roll the edges of the stamp on the darker or contrasting color. Now stamp on the card stock. Easy.
Now, my lesson learned: Think outside the box.
I didn't have enough info when I made my original contribution, but decided to post the card anyway.
I had no idea that there was actually a Rock n' Roll stamping technique. Boy did I get this one wrong! My little guy fits the R & R part, just not the technique part. The only ink I used was a sponge to ink the edge of the blue label, I embossed the blue and the background using the Nestability label Four from Sizzix and the boy is cut using the Cricut Every Day Paper Doll cartridge. I like my very CAS card and rather than just toss it decided to go head and post it here.

365 Cards Day 135

The collage for Day 135 is to use chipboard, patterned paper and fringe.
I don't have any fringe so I used a fiber that I have. I covered the chipboard J with the patterned paper.
I need to make a monogrammed card next month, so am practicing here. I'm still playing with this, but it is due by midnight EST and I am in a PST zone and its getting pretty close to the cut off. Hope my faux fringe is ok.

365 Cards Day 134and HIMCR Challenge 2

Scraps and collage. I made this card originally for 365 Cards Day 134 Tuesday collage using pearls, rickrack and buttons. Well, my pearls are a shade of pink, my rickrack is pink with sparkly threads and my button is yellow.
After visiting some of my favorite blogs, I noticed one that Hiding in my Craft Room had a challenge to make something using scraps. The pink plaid with rickrack at the bottom is left over from a recipe swap, the pink of the butterfly is left over from many projects as is the purple and pp also.  I even found my card base in my scrap drawer.

365 Cards - Day 133

Collage Monday

This week at 365 Cards they are doing collage challenges. For Monday the items that needed to be included on the card are, pin, lace and glitter. I'm out of my element here because I don't use glitter. I do cards for troops, therefore glitter doesn't get used anywhere around me or my craft room. The words that I glittered aren't really clear and if I used glitter more, I would have known that the stamp this stamp wouldn't really work. So...
The lace is the top butterfly. It didn't say what type of lace, so I cut my butterfly from paper I had glued lace to. Both butterflies are actually popped. Again, there weren't specific rules about a pin. I made my stick pin using glass beads and pewter butterfly beads.

This card I made for an SSSD sketch-theme flowers challenge. I enjoyed making it and actually like the sketch. So you will see this sketch in earlier posts. I had to have flowers and I can't seem to get my flowers looking good, so I decided to stamp them. I stamped and clear embossed the dark blue. The white basket is also embossed. I used a Fiskar edge punch on the lower blue strip. If I remember right, the colors used were in a color challenge.

365 Cards Day 132

I'm going to try once again to enter the 365 Cards challenge, Sketchy Sunday. I haven't been able to figure out how to link from their site directly to my card.  I did get one linked, but I think that was because it was sitting at the top of my posts.  If I add posts after, even tho they have the link to my blog, they don't have a link directly to the card I want them to look at. I enjoy doing the challenges 365 Cards puts out. If you haven't looked at their challenges, you really should. Here is the link for today's challenge.

365 Cards Day 126

Color Scheme

How does one scan a white card and have it show up nicely here? I don't do well photographing my projects and even less luck posting a photo into my blog.  The colors in the challenge are Red, White, Blue and Yellow. I placed my card on black, which is not part of the card, so the white card base would show up nicely. But as I look at it, a little bit of black wouldn't be such a bad idea.  I like the sketch I used here, it has so many possibilities.
Have a good 4th of July and Take care

365 Cards Day 125

Super Sketch Sunday

I know its Monday, its also the 4th of July. I made this card for the Day 125 and primarily for my SSSD June swap in which I had to quill something. All I know how to do is a flower. This was a real challenge since I couldn't find my quilling tool, nor my quilling board or my quilling papers. I used tweezers and my fingers to roll and set each one in the cap of a sample tube of handcream. The first roll dried as I rolled the next. Took me a while. I made some leaves too, but they got lost in the shuffle.
The image is heat embossed using a stamp from the A flower for all Seasons SU set and the sentiment is Printworks collection.

Have a safe 4th of July

Last Thursday at 365 Cards - Day 122 the challenge was "Feeling Fuzzy" . I couldn't find my felt (I know I have some cause I used it a couple of months a go) so my next "fuzzy" would be flocking. So that is what I used, Fun Flock. I have four colors of this stuff, and as luck would have it, I had three usable colors for my kitty. My kitty is cut using Sizzix Cat and Cat Toys die, the Fun Flock colors are Panda black, Teddy Bear tan and Snow white. I did her nose with Stickles and used wobbly eyes. If you notice, there is a tiny bell tied around her neck. Don't want her to catch any birds. I had fun with this until I got sticky hands, flock everywhere and the Stickles wouldn't co-operate. But I kept on going. I didn't realize everything was crooked until I pulled it up here. I wonder if the person that is to receive this card will care? (I will probably re-do it before sending)

Gimmie A Break Challenge #22 - Color
Cajun Craze, Whisper White and Basic Black

The butterflies and sentiment is from the Flight of the Butterfly set. I heat embossed both butterflies and used the ticket corner punch for the corners.
