First card of 2012

HAPPY 2012 TO YOU AND YOURS
First day of a new year, first post, first card. That's a lot of firsts for one day. One would think I was a youngster just learning my way around. But nope, I'm an oldster and still learning my way around.
Build-a-sketch
I made this card for a swap. We all were given a list of 17 shapes of various sizes and we were to cut one of each to use as a template. Not all of them were easy. I only had one set of oval dies and the size needed wasn't one of them. Didn't have the correct circle size, etc. Anyway...we were given five numbers (each shape was numbered) and use them to make a card. The colors I used are Real Red, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and the pp is from the SU Holly Berry Bouquet pack. The kitty is from the SU Touch of Kindness stamp set and is heat embossed in white. I hope my partner likes her card. Don't tell her I posted it on my blog before I sent it out to her. LOL

Last sunset of 2011

Today, the last day of 2011, was a beautiful day and the evening wasn't bad either. I looked out my window and saw this beautiful sunset.
I took this picture from my window and then decided to go outside to see if I could get a better one.   I was dodging the window frame and the dog.

The picture below is from my front yard and as you can see, there is more color in the sky.

This being the last sunset of 2011, this is also my last post for 2011.

I wish everyone a wonderfully healthy and prosperous 2012.

              HAPPY NEW YEAR

Please celebrate safely, I want to see all of you back here next year.

Computerless

My computer died last week and I'm having to resort to a laptop that is slower than molasses going uphill in January. I am currently setting stuff up on it like bookmarks, there hasn't been a bookmark put on it in several years, so nothing is current. I have absolutely none of the blogs I visit bookmarked, so I am sort of starting over.guess this is a good time to do some weeding.
I don't know the damage to my desktop yet, I'm hoping that there is just a corrupted file in my windows start-up program. I haven't done a backup of the disk, so am hoping also that the disk isn't fried. Luckily, most (but not all) of my work has been saved to external drives or memory sticks. Its just going to take me a few weeks to get everything straight and the necessary peripherals set up for this computer.
Thanks for stopping by, I will be visiting you soon. Take care

January Colors

I posted a card very similar to this one about a year ago. At the time, I made two and this is the first one, I posted the second one I made. Anyway, I like the motif I used (don't remember where I got it) and I like the layout. Hmmmm, I like the colors too. As some of you may know, I'm color challenged, never been able to coordinate "acceptible" color combinations.  Why am I telling you this? Well I took over a swap where I must pick out new color combinations each month. I'm still trying to figure this one out, however, I am up for the challenge.
Colors for the month of January are Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.
Before I made the color commitment for January, I went to visit my local SU rep. I couldn't figure out the Color Coach and color coordination being a  challenge, I needed to learn to use it. She explained how to use this accessory and some tips on picking out popular and/or new color combinations.
I hope you try these colors and while I would like to see what you come up with, I will just have to put it on my wish list.
Let me know what you think of my color combo. If  by chance I find where I saw the motif (it was on a card), I will post it on my Pinterest page.
Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  Take care

Thank You

Aren't challenges fun? For me, they keep me actively crafting and thinking. I use my brain in fun ways, I play games. I love word games, scrabble being my favorite. But my passion is crafting. I like putting things together but most often need a pattern of some sort. Knitting, crocheting and counted x-stitch, I follow patterns. The same goes for my card making. I move faster if I have a sketch to follow. I am not an artist, can't draw worth a darn, and am never satisfied with my own creations, so I follow patterns.

The sketch here is Mojo Monday #213, the colors are from Hand Stamped Sentiments #91 and the sentiment is for Tuesday Throwdown #73. Wow, I got three challenges into one card. Keeps the number of cards I make to a minimum. I make cards, I don't send cards. Its now time to get my cards boxed and sent off to OWH.
Paper is SU: Cherry Cobbler, Real red, Wild Wasabi and Very Vanila. (the pp is from probably DCWV, but I could be wrong)
The circles and oval are Spellbinders Nestabilities, the stamp is Inkadinkado, and lastly, that little bit of embellishment is from Recollections.
Thanks for stopping by Take care

Lovely friend

Its Thursday, and here I am trying to get things uploaded for this week's challenges. I have been very busy in my craft room finishing up last month's swaps, so now I can concentrate on November.

I wanted to make a card for Designs2delight digi challenge but I was having a problem with a layout. What do I do if I need a layout? I got over to Mojo Monday or Splitcoast Stampers.
I used this weeks SCS sketch,  SC356 for my layout, the stamp is a digi from Designs2Delight called Lovely tree and the colors,  rich razzleberry, kraft, cream and green are for a color swap. There was one problem with this sketch, it only uses three layers. I made four layers since I need to have the four colors on my card. I cheated a little bit on the green, I used Zig markers instead of green paper. Hope you like my card. Thanks for stopping by. Take care

Wax resist

I haven't done this one before, so the technique is new to me. Hiding in my craft Room's challenge was to make a project using the wax resist technique. Here is my take on it.

I apologize for the shortness of this post I'm leaving on a camping trip in about 10 minutes and Friday got here before I was ready for it.
So, go check out HIMCR. Check out her blog, really neat stuff goes on there. The cuts were made for the Simply Charmed cartridge. Thanks for stopping buy and I will be out and around your blogs next week.
Take care
