Two Challenges, One Card

I have two challenges to tell you about this month. I know, I know, the month is almost over. I have been having computer problems, one is in the shop, one doesn’t go onto the internet since Microsoft quit supporting XP and then there is the one I am working on now. It is so slow, I have to wait a couple of minutes for the “reply” form to come up if I want to reply to someone’s e-mail or on the boards. So, I’m not doing much computer work. My laser printer just bit the dust too. Of course it doesn’t work with vista or Win 7, so it was on its way out the door. Well I could go on and on, but you aren’t here to read about my computer problems, you want to see my card and check out the challenges.

The card uses a digi from From the heart stamps for their “Free Digi of the Month challenge. It’s a cute one, with lots of coloring possibilities. It’s called Whimsy Garden Fence.

The other challenge is for Your Scrapbook Place. Its a recipe card. Six items must be used on the card, a printed background, two images and three buttons. You can check out this challenge here

I'm so late with this, that unfortunately you may not have time to make and entry into either challenge. Go check out the challenges and know that there will be new challenges come June 1.

Ease(l) Into the New Challenge

Ease(l) Into the New Challenge  at Your Scrapbook Place. For this challenge I used a digi from our sponsor, Squibbles Design. The challenge is to make an Easel card. If you make an Easel card and enter it at Your Scrapbook Place, you will be entered into a drawing for three digis of your choice from Scribbles Design. Entries close May 14, 2012

Isn't that frog adorable? That's a Scribbles Design digi that I printed out on splotchy green paper. I didn't want to color the frog and I think the paper is perfect for my frog. I then did some fussy cutting, and put pop dots behind him. I heat embossed his pad so it would be shinny and have some depth to it. The flowers at the bottom, which the face of the card butts up against to make the easel, are Dimensionals from Debbie Mumm as is the dragonfly in the upper right corner.

I enjoyed making this card but getting it here was a totally different matter. But that's another story.
I hope to see some entries in this challenge at Your Scrapbook Place
Winner will be picked by a random drawing.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care and drive safe.

Is it Spring yet?

A lot of us are still looking for Spring. The date says it spring, but the weather, well, the weather isn't cooperating in some places. I think Faith over at from the Heart Stamps is trying to get spring to come and stay a while. The Free Stamp of the Month is Spring Medley.

This is also my card for the SSSD COTM swap. The colors for the swap are Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo. I also added the green to my card, because to me, flower stems are green.

Here's hoping that Spring gets every where she's suppose to be before Summer arrives.

Thanks for coming by, Take Care and drive safe.

Pinterest Inspriation

Your Scrapbook Place blog is having its first challenge of 2014. Its an interesting challenge. What you need to do to enter the challenge is peruse Pinterest. Sounds like fun doesn't it. Only the challenge doesn't end there. You need to take inspiration from there. Make a card, scrapbook page, or other crafty project that Pinterest inspired you to make. Tell us why you chose that piece of inspiration. You can find all the rules and some examples here.

As for me, I only go to pinterest when I'm looking for something specific. I have looked for punch art items. I joined some Punch art swaps and needed to find food, animals, plants, people, etc. Later on this month I will need to find a treat box I can make; Pinterest, here I come.

But for now, here are a few punch art items I have made in the past, getting the inspiration from Pinterest.

Here are a few punch art items that I have swapped. That little orange cat was not a Pinterest find, it was an SU find. But he is so cute, I had to put him in here. The angel and little man were for a "people" swap, the two cats and angry bird for an animal swap and the donut and chocolate chip cookie

Below is a birthday card I made using a caterpillar  I found on Pinterest. I think she is so cute. Had a bit of trouble with his face, her mouth isn't quite as smiley as I would like, but ya only get one chance.

I belong to a birthday club and this card is going to our April birthday girl. I hope she likes it.

Ingredients: SU Owl Builder, Bird Builder, Create a Cupcake, Word Window and Modern Label punches. Yellow paper and cupcake stripes is from the Watercolor Designer Series. Sentiment is from SU Big Wish stamp set. The circles are from various punch sizes, and SU embossing folder. Everything else if from stash. There you have it, my first entry into a Your Scrapbook Place a challenge.
You too can enter, just go here.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care and drive safe

Its Spring according to Hamlet PigWit

Hamlet PigWit Think Spring is the March Stamp of the Month Challenge at From the Heart Stamps. Hes a cute little fella and he would like you to join him in celebrating Spring.

When I started to color Hamlet, I pulled out two colors, SU Pink Pirouette and Blushing Bride knowing I would need more colors. I very gently colored him and liked what I did. I then pulled out two more colors and by the time I had finished coloring the image, I had used nine markers.I don't think I have ever used that many colors on one image. I actually had fun coloring this little guy and I have another image waiting for me to color.

See that blue around the die cut? That's a first for me. Before I made the cut out I laid a smaller die over the image and used a sponge and ink to give it a small border. It didn't come out very even, but I like it enough to try it again.

To finish off, I gave him some googly eyes, added crystal gems to the butterfly and yellow gems at the feet of the daffodils.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care

Birthdays

This month's digi at From the Heart Inspiration is a cute birthday bird that looks a bit worried. It was a challenge for me. To color him required some dexterity with shading which I don't do well. I have no patience. So I paper piece. Everything is cut out and pieced together. The only coloring I did was with Stickles, the candle flame, candle wax on the side and the purple stripes.

 Inside
As I look at my card, I feel that there should be something in that bare space on the left. I have thought of putting "Be Happy" or "a little bird told me its your birthday" But that doesn't really fit with the inside sentiment. Even as I write this, I'm still not sure my card is finished.
As you can see, I left room under the inside sentiment for a personal note.

This is my contribution to the From the Heart monthly digi challenge. Now its your turn, even tho there is only a day left.

In any case, go over and check out the wonderful entries.

I don't do Valentines

January's {From the Heart Stamps} Inspiration Stamp of the Month challenge, Kitten and Heart tells me I have to make a Valentine. Now, I don't make valentines. I'll buy a cute stuffed animal, buy some candy, buy a valentine or maybe take you to dinner, but please don't ask me to make a valentine. That makes using this month's digi a real challenge.

Many of you know that I like a challenge and often use cards that I'm swaping for the Free digi of the month Challenge.

Pearls are the mystery item for the Mystery card swap in January. Perfect! I'm only in two card swaps this month and the Color of the Month colors; Black, White and Silver, didn't lend themselves to Valentines. But Kittens, Hearts and Pearls do.

That's my Valentine. I'm not really happy with it and it does look better in person, but that's what I came away with. I have now used some of my stash of pink papers, my Sizzix heart embossing folder and the pearls. Yaaaa!

My other swap, COTM, well, I made several before I decided on this one. When I check on who my partner was, the cards I had made just didn't seem right. I had just ordered the SU People like you stamp and it was down at my SU Enabler's house. Knowing my swap partner liked this stamp, I picked it up and made this card... hope she likes it.

Thanks for stopping by.  Take Care

PS: I replaced the missing pearl on the Valentine card.
