Water Tapestry

I had the hardest time with this card. Its for a swap and after I did my background using this month's technique "Water Tapestry", I didn't want to cover it up. You see, I made the mistake of using the Flowering Flourishes stamp set which I love. The colors for the background were Adirondack alcohol ink, Brights collection which worked perfect with the gold embossing. I will definitely use this technique again.

I am entering this card in the February challenge over at Delightful Inspiriation. You can get more information on the challenge by clicking on the link. The digi stamp set is called Spring Baskets. I made the image small so I could show off my background. I used pencils and glitter pens to color the image. The butterflies were cut from leftover background paper using the Beautiful Wings embosslit.

Wearin the Green

Its another challenge over at Scrapbook Place Challenges. This one runs the 2nd half of February and is in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day in March.
This is the sketch

The theme is "Wearin of the Green" for St. Paddy's Day.
The link takes you to the winner of the "Winter theme challenge", cursor down for info on this sketch challenge and to see some great DT projects. Remember, you to, can enter.
Here is my card
The owl on this card is my prize for winning the "Winter" theme challenge and is one of Pammie's own designs. I wanted to make a card using him, but had a problem making him Irish. Sooo I tacked a shamrock on his chest, over his heart. All of the elements on this card are computer generated. I made the design on the background paper using Word, cut out the shamrocks and glued them individually down the side of the card.I did the sentiment in PrintShop. I used Copics to color the owl.
This is my entry into the "Wearin of the Green" themed sketch challenge. Do you have an entry?

Went Camping

We went camping this past weekend. The weather was beautiful most of the day. It turned cold as soon as the sun started going down. In the mornings it was cold, so we lit the campfire to take the chill off.

The campground we go to has no TV, cell phone service, WI-fi and, of course, no internet. Oh my gosh, whats a person to do? I generally sit, enjoy the quiet and the wild life while I read or do needle work. I didn't do any reading this trip, I worked on the lap robe below.

The pattern is by Kim Guzzman, the colors are mine. When I first saw the pattern it was done in black, ocean (blue green) and forest floor (green). It was absolutely gorgeous. But, alas, I had so much yarn at home that I couldn't justify buying seven more skeins of yarn. She called her's Eco Throw, I call mine Stained Glass.

I have been working on this for about three years now. It lives in the camp trailer as it is my needle craft project while camping. Needless to say, I haven't worked on it very much. I have now brought it into the house and it will go where I go until I get it completed. When I started it, I didn't have a need or plan for the finished product so I don't know what I'm going to do with it. I will post a picture of it when finished.

Its still Winter

Winter is calming down in my part of the county, but some are still getting lots and lots of snow. I love the snowy pictures I see, but I know that those involved are a bit tired of all the snow. I love snow. Its beautiful. But, I don't live where it snows or I might have a different opinion. I remember snow from when I was a child. Every Christmas we would get up to see if we had a White Christmas. Didn't happen very often. While we got snow, it was never more than a few inches. So I have good memories. Why am I talking snow? I guess because over at Scrapbook Place Challenge the theme for this month's challenge is "Old Man Winter". I think where they live they are still getting lots of snow.
Here is my card for the challenge

I had a die cut left over and, since I usually throw the extras away, I decided that I would try to use this one. I used it inside my card and this is what I did with it.

I can't remember where I got the digi so I can't give credit where credit is due. It is a cute snowman and he was a free digi. I must take better care when I pull something off the internet. The paper is all from my vast assortment of papers, the die cut is a Nestibility, Labels 1. For coloring I used Zig and Slick Writer pens. Two black gems make up the buttons.
Hop on over to Scrapbook Place Challenges and have a look at the beautiful work the DT s have done as inspiration for this challenge..

Its a Challenge

Its a challenge for me just to get a challenge posted. The card I am posting is for the Free Stamp of the Month at Delightful Inspiration {from the heart}. The stamp set for this one is Cupcake Lineup. Its a digital and I enjoy working with digis. The thing I really like about them is that they can be resized!

The background I made using Word, so it is computer generated with my help. I printed off the cupcake digi along with the sentiment on white. I also printed it onto patterned card stock and cut the pieces out and glued them over the original digi. I used the Nestibility Label 10. SU Build a Owl for the hearts and some gems that I had laying around. After finishing the card, I scanned it, then sent it off full of confetti and a balloon. Won't she be surprised when she opens it.
