Mystery cutting

This is a cutting from a very fragrant bush that has flowers and at the moment, shinny bright red berries.
The leaves are a dark green, firm and shinny. My daughter says that when you walk by the bush and it is in bloom it has a sweet fragrant scent. We have no idea what this shrub is. Any help would be appreciated.

Owl B, its Friday

Alright, I know its corny, but what the hey.
This is my paper piecing swap for SSSD this month.

Aren't they adorable? I cut them from the Cricut Cindi Loo cartridge. As I cut the separate layers, I got extra pieces and since I didn't know (and still don't) how to use the extra pieces, I put them  in the little envies with the owl. Those that receive them may be able to use the pieces with or without the completed owl.
Anyway, I think he is just adorable. Hope those that I am swapping with like em. I enjoyed putting these little critters together.
Thanks for taking time to stop by for a visit. Take Care

Friday the 13th

Traffic was good this morning, got the kids to school 20 minutes before the bell. They had time for breakfast. Stopped and got coffee on my way home. I even had a photo op this morning, just didn't have my camera in hand.
I'm doing 365 days of Twenty-Twelve. We are suppose to take a picture every day of the year and post it. Well, I have been unable to post on the FB site and I made an album, but it disappeared into cyber space. So I built a another blog to keep track of my days. My new blog is A Snapshot of Me. I have been fairly good about posting. I did miss a day this week, but unless someone visits my other blog, no one will ever know. Heeheehe

This one is for the January Mystery swap. The item that I was to build around is the felt bug&flower strip there at the bottom of the card.

Another swap was to make a Valentine for a male. I made one, I liked it until I saw who I was suppose to send it to. She makes perfect cards and mine are so far from perfect that I have a problem when I must send to her. Anyway, this card was made after I discovered who I was to send to. However, This isn't the card I ended up sending, although I think I like this one better.

This is the original card and the one I'm sending to her. I hope she likes it.

This is a long post, so I am going to get out of here. I hope that you enjoyed looking at my cards and didn't mind my babbling on about them and my morning.
Have a good weekend and take care

Telescoping card

This is a swap I'm doing at SSSD, its called "A different kind of card". I have signed up to do one each month for the full year. I had done this particular format at an SU Club meeting and liked it. I can't find the one we did at club but here is the card I made for the swap.

I enjoyed making this card, but it took me hours of thinking and trying different things to make him come out right. The hat I grabbed off the internet, the eyes are wiggly eyes, the nose is just a piece of postit and the mouth is a piece of fiber. The arms are hemp that I braided and colored, the buttons are plastic gems. Winter fun was cut on my Cricut and small white brads hold the three circles together. That's January, don't know what February will bring, but, you may see it here next month.
Thanks for stopping by. Take care

Need more practice

Or different colors. This is a technique using gold embossing powder and and an embossing folder to make the background. Easy enough to do, but I don't care for how it turned out.
To make the background, cover a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of dark cardstock with Versa Mark, then gold embossing powder and do the heat thingy. Next step was to emboss with an embossing folder of choice. I was ok to this point, but then I was to sand the whole thing so that the dark color of the CS showed through and the gold looked antiqued. Lost me there. I guess I just need to do more of them, or perhaps a different folder... I had a hard time adding something to it. If you look through my blog, you will see that I don't do a lot of embellishing. I prefer CAS, so I went with the tag. I used gold ink and then a transparent embossing powder on the sentiment which made it stand out more.  While not legible here, it does show up very nicely in person. The sentiment: Cherish yesterday, Live today, Dream for tomorrow. A nice sentiment to start the year with. Thanks for stopping by.

First card of 2012

HAPPY 2012 TO YOU AND YOURS
First day of a new year, first post, first card. That's a lot of firsts for one day. One would think I was a youngster just learning my way around. But nope, I'm an oldster and still learning my way around.
Build-a-sketch
I made this card for a swap. We all were given a list of 17 shapes of various sizes and we were to cut one of each to use as a template. Not all of them were easy. I only had one set of oval dies and the size needed wasn't one of them. Didn't have the correct circle size, etc. Anyway...we were given five numbers (each shape was numbered) and use them to make a card. The colors I used are Real Red, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and the pp is from the SU Holly Berry Bouquet pack. The kitty is from the SU Touch of Kindness stamp set and is heat embossed in white. I hope my partner likes her card. Don't tell her I posted it on my blog before I sent it out to her. LOL
Thank you for stopping by. Take Care
