Halloween is coming, Halloween is coming
I don't normally make Halloween cards, but since I wanted to enter a challenge, I needed a Halloween card. I also needed to make a carding using a paperclip as an embellishment for a swap.
The design is from Mojo Monday (I didn't get it done in time to enter it there). But I liked the sketch (by Julee Tilman) and will upload the card to my SCS gallery.
It does work for challenge #13 at HIMCR.
My next hurdle is to get it linked.
The papers are Pumpkin Pie, Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight and black. The grey for the card foundation and the scalloped oval are from stash. I pulled the web off the internet, went over the lines with stickles and used a pop dot on it. Spider is Jolee's boutique and the paperclip is from stash.
Thanks for coming by. Take care

Would you like to win a copy of
About a month ago, I received an e-mail asking if I would be willing to offer this digital scrapbook
software package on my blog. I finally agreed, downloaded the My Memories software and have been learning to use it ever since. It is easy to use, and I created a page almost immediately.

The My Memories software is easy to use and the support team responds quickly when one has a question.
The albums are virtual, you can send the whole album or just a page to anyone that has internet.

My Memories is a community. They have tutorials for using the software, a gallery to upload your album to, giveaways and weekly challenges.  A great way to learn and to use the My Memories Suit software.

For my first project, I chose a layout using three photos, one of which I deleted. I added my pictures, which was very easy. They just fit right in, like magic. Finding pictures I wanted to use was harder. I know its much easier to make a page if the pictures come first but I just wanted to get started on this software.

And here is another layout I made for a card. I like CAS, so I didn't do much in the way of embellishing.

You can also add music and/or video to your album. I haven't done this yet, I don't have any music on my computer. As for video, the only video I have at my fingertips is of my grandson in gymnastic competitions. But I can use them to learn how to imbed them into an album.

If you would like to win a copy of this My Memories Suite, you need to leave me a comment (by Oct. 3) telling me why you would like to win the My Memories Scrapbook suite. To make it more fun, go to the My Memories web site, check out the digital paper packs and kits they have, come back here and tell me which one you like.

You have until October 3, 2011 to enter to win the My Memories Scrapbook suite.

I have learned something new

Many years ago I took a class at CKU and we made a page using Photo Shop. Well, I never did it again, too confusing. And...I can't print out 12 x 12 pages. After the page was printed I added the title "Nature's Beauty" using chipboard letters. I also did my journaling in the round journaling box. I don't remember how to make a page in Photo Shop. As we made the page, we were told how to do each step. While I produce a beautiful page, I didn't learn much. What I did learn is that you can make scrapbook pages using Photo Shop if you know how.

Things have changed. There are many digital scrapbook programs on the market and I have made a page using one.

July 13, 1890 - Nov. 19, 1980

I made this page using My Memories Suite scrapbook software.
It was easier than Photo Shop

That's my Grandma. She was a big part of my life and I miss her dearly. This picture was taken in 1965 which made her 75 at the time.

Why am I making this post? I don't really know, except that , well, I'm proud of my page and I wanted to share it.

Now I need to go get busy on some cards and get them posted and in the mail.

Thanks for stopping by.

My September mystery item card.

I needed to have a project using an item that was sent to me. This month it was a pink and white stripped brad. My first thought was flowers. I got out my Bloom cartridge and started going through it and saw the cage. My only dilemma on this was do a bird or a butterfly. I'm thinking I should have done the bird, but my butterfly turned out ok. Actually I decided on the cage after I saw the Sweet Stop Blog sketch.  I used Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo.  The ribbon and pearls are from my stash.
I was going to enter this card in the Sweet Stop challenge and the Verve get your Diva on - Monochromatic. Well, being a procrastinator and someone that doesn't always read the fine print, I couldn't enter either challenge. The Sweet Stop challenge had a twist, "Star". Oops, no stars here. Missed the Verve too, couldn't find the place to enter it. I'm now ready for the next Verve challenge tho and I need to start reading and writing all the instructions so I don't get my challenges mixed up.
Now I must quit procrastinating and get to work on some challenges.

Its been a while since I have posted and now I have posted twice in less than 24 hours. I have been making cards, but only when needed. Here are some that were made for my August swaps.

August COTM
This card is for the Color of the Month - August- using Chocolate, Pink, Cocoa and White. I really like the pinks and browns together. I used my Cricut to cut the flowers and the frame was cut with a nestability and the swiss dots embossing folder from Sizzix.

August Monogram kit
This challenge was to make a monogram card and also make a kit for the same card and send both to my partner. I used my Cricut and the Cindy Loo cartridge for the frame and the letter. Most monogram stationery and towels and whatever one puts monograms on, the initial for the last name is used. For the kit, I included both of her initials so she could use which ever she wanted. I chose shades of brown, the white is actually a very, very light shade of brown. And then the green vine. I thought of doing it in another shade of brown, but decided on the green. I didn't add any embellishments, I didn't know where I would put them. I also don't feel a monogram project needs extra embellishments. I did include some in the kit I put together just in case she would like to use some embellishments.

August clear emboss use a sponge

This card uses an emboss resist technique. It didn't come out very good as the stamp I used (I think) was too small to get a good background definition. The image on the label is the image I used in the background. The strip at the side was punched using a Fiskers border punch. I added gems for the flowers. I'm not really happy with the card. I'm going to have to work on my emboss resist technique and really work on my sponging.

August sketch theme animal

Isn't he just the cutest little guy? I stole him. He was a freebee and if I use him I should give credit to the artist. However, I can't find where I got him. I can't even find him anywhere on my hard drive. So I can't give the artist the credit he/she so deserves. So, I stole him.
I enjoyed coloring him, tho I still need to work on my shading.
The sketch was an easy one and I enjoyed making this card. Maybe the bear had something to do with it?

If you know where the digi came from, please post a comment letting me and anyone else who may read the comments, know who this adorable little bear belongs to.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed looking at my cards.
Take care.

Copics, How do I use them?
I purchased Copic pens without knowing how to use them. They can be quite expensive if you use them as any other coloring pen, but if you learn all the things you can do with them, then they aren't any more expensive than the other pens. I have seen some pretty fantastic coloring with Copics, but I couldn't get mine to look that way. So I took a class, or two, or three.

The dress is Copics 102. The teacher had her hand in the first dress, but the other two are mine alone. The second dress was working with the blender pen to show what it could do. So I just dotted all over the apron. The third dress, we were to make the strips and then use a multi-liner on them to bring them out. I didn't get to finish shading my third dress as the class was moving pretty fast. I was going to finish the dress before I posted, but decided against it. I have one more dress to practice on. Plus I have the stamp so I have many dresses to practice on.

This is what I learned in Copics 103:
Copics 103
Isn't she adorable?
We worked on blending and shading hair and skin. I think I did a pretty good job, but I still have a long way to go.
Practice, practice, practice. Kept hearing those words through out the classes. Haven't done any practicing yet, but I will.
I discovered that I didn't buy the right pens, so I have more to buy. In the first class she told us about color families. Well, I have color families, but don't have the right colors within the families to do proper blending. I should have taken the class before I bought the pens.
