Here I go again, jumping out of my box. Its a really cool world out there in craft land. Thanks to Youtube I made a paper bag purse. Scrapbook Place is doing some daily challenges. I check them out each day, and this one caught my fancy. I made it, but never uploaded it to contest.
I decided to use my paper bag purse as one of my swaps. The swap is Recipe card. We are given items we use for our card. This month it is 1 layer, 2 colors and 3 embellishments. The yellow is my one layer, added to a pink base gives me two colors. The flower and butterfly are two embellishments and the third one is the ribbon handle.
This is a side view showing the paper bag inside.
I found the instructions for making this on Youtube. The video is by Kristan Wilson and you can visit her blog by clicking on her name. I don't know how to link to her Youtube channel, but I noticed on her blog that she has her videos on the side. So if you are interested in making this darling purse, you know what to do. Let me know if you make one of these paper bag purses and what you used it for.

Build a Sketch
Its April, almost May. Oh my gosh, the months are flying by and I still have swap cards to make. So far for April, I have made one. Not good, I usually have all but one done by this time.
The card below is my BAS, see title, for April. I have included a photo of the pieces that were to be used.
The base card is 5 x 5 and the second layer is 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 (not shown). All elements must be used plus some embellishments.

I had so much fun with this stamp. Its a digi from Delightful Inspiration from the Heart Stamps. I sized it to fit my 2" circle, printed out several copies and began coloring and cutting. The flowers and the rim of the pot are popped up for dimension, I added Google eyes on the chick. The paper is SU Lucky limeade and Wisteria wonder. I used many different pens to color the image with. I am entering this card into the Delightful Inspiration from the Heart stamps blog monthly challenge.

I'm bragging
The first weekend of April was spent in Reno at the Mens Region 1
Gymnastics Championships. Levels 5 through 10, ages 8 - 18. My grandson,
Jordan was competing in Level 8, age 11-12. Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada,
Northern California and Southern California, make up Region 1. CA has
two Star teams representing it. The top 70 Level 8, age 11-12 boys in
our Region, including the Star team, were competing.
From the 70 boys, the top eight make up the Region 1 Select team that goes to the Nationals in Portland. There will be a total of 25 boys, including the Select team, going , representing our level 8, age 11-12.
Jordan qualified for the Level 8, age 11-12 Select team. Its not the first time he has qualified, but it is the first time he is old enough to go.
All the levels 8 - 10, ages 11-18, from each Region, have a Select team and a set number of boys from each level and age group representing them. At Nationals, the select teams will compete against each other. But all the boys will competing for top honors individually.
I had originally put in videos, but they didn't work, so deleted that post. No pictures, sorry,

Beyond my comfort zone
This is the Easter Blessing themed sketch at Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog.
This sketch is more than I like to work with. While I might work with this many pieces, they aren't usually spread out. So this was a real challenge for me.
The background is a new technique for me using paint and liquid inks. It was for a technique swap at SSSD. Easy enough and messy but fun to do and no two papers are alike, I did four 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.
The little butterfly is SU and was punched from another piece of the background paper that I made.
The image is a From the Heart digital stamp. I really like working with digital stamps. The flowers in the upper right are from the same digi. The sentiment is a clear stamp from Stamps of Life. The band across the bottom is a sheer ribbon.
There you have it, my contribution to the Easter Blessing sketch at Scrapbook Place challenge blog.

Here Fishy fishy fishy
My daughter and her fiance like to fish and go fishing quite often. She called me on Saturday to ask me to pick up one of her kids, cause they were out in the boat fishing and wouldn't be able to get back in time. Likely story. Anyway, while talking to me she called out "here fishy fishy fishy". I laughed at her and ask if that would really work. A couple of hours later she called me and asked if I had gotten the pictures she sent. So I went to find my cell and this is what I found.
Isn't it beautiful? Unfortunately or fortunately for this fish, they had to release it. He/she was too big. Can you imagine, having to throw a 100 lb. plus fish back because it too big? This fish was longer than the 60" max. allowed for a keeper. Sturgeon can only be kept when they are between 40" and 60" from nose to fork.
The lesson here is; if you are fishing and aren't catching anything, maybe you need to call out "here fishy fishy fishy". Don't laugh, it worked for my daughter.
That's my fish story of "The one that got away". Do you have one?

Easter Kid Card
Me? make an Easter card? Oh, yeah, I made one earlier didn't I. Well, here is another one.
This is my first "kid" card Its pretty plain, but I like plain, and I think little kids like plain.
Scrapbook Place Challenge blog really challenges me. The March Theme Challenge is " Egg-actly Speaking." After you get to their blog, curser down for the challenge.
I went with the egg part of this challenge. Got out my Cricut and started looking for eggs within the cartridges I have. I came up with this in Create a Critter. I thought the chick cute and wanted to use it. You know how it is when you get something in your head and just can't get rid of it? That happened here. No matter what, this card had to have this chick.
This card looks better in person. You can see the clouds in the background paper and that the egg pieces are popped, the chick is not. I was disappointed when I noticed that this particular image had no layers available.
So I had to draw in the beak and I added googly eyes for embellishment.
