365 Cards  Day 119
Feeling Punchy

What fun I had putting these colors together. The colors: Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie (orange), Teal and White are the July Colors of the Month for an SSSD swap. I put the colors together so many ways and this is what I ended up with. I love the orange & purple together and may have that as primary colors on my fall cards. I didn't like the Pacific Point and the purple together, but did like the two blues; and the white just didn't fit in anywhere. Being color challenged do you see my dilemma? I really like how this card came out and am quite satisfied with my color arrangement.
I wanted to join this 365 Card challenge and that is where the leaves come in. They are punched using an EK border punch. I also used a corner rounder on the white and darker blue.
Hope you like my card, and go give the 365 Card site a look see. You may find one of their challenges you would like to join.
Take care

Gimme A Break  Challenge #21
Use Tearing somewhere on your project

I made this card, tore it up and remade it. Tore it up again, remade it again. However, I don't think the challenge was to tear up the card. LOL I used to use tearing on a lot of my projects. Many of my scrapbook pages have tearing. I haven't done tearing in a long while. It was fun then and its still fun now.
The Pacific Point blue is torn at a slant. I tore off the corners of the teal instead of using a  punch.  The squirrel image is heat embossed in white, I heat embossed the sunflower on Tangerine Tango, cut it out and applied it using a pop dot. The sentiment is stamped in Dusty Durango.
The image is from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps.
I enjoyed looking at all the submissions to the GAB challenge this past week and am anxious to see what is going to be submitted this next week. Being on the DT, one of my jobs is to check out all the submissions and comment on them. Its not a job, its a perk!
Leave a comment here, a challenge submission at GAB and I will visit your blog. Take care

365 Cards Challenge Day 112  Paper Pieced

Two days in a row. Actually, I have posted both cards today, but started Sunday's challenge yesterday. And this is Monday's challenge being posted on Monday.
As I said in my previous post, I am using the same background on the birthday cards I'm making for July. Just the name is being changed to protect the innocent. Oh, that's another story.
I punched the owl using an SU punch. His spotted center was heat embossed, cut out and applied. I put wiggly eyes on him and used a yellow gel pen to color his nose. The scolloped circle is punched using  Paper Shapers. I have discovered that I have a Xyron glue runner that doesn't show behind vellum. I don't know where I got it or what to look for to replace it since I have had it for years. I don't care for the glue runner for vellum I currently use, so hopefully I will be able to find the Xyron.
I will be sending this card off the end of the week, I hope she likes it.
365 Cards  Day 111  Super Sketchy Sunday

July is fastly coming and I have birthday cards to get done. Since I like to do challenges, why not do challenges with them. I might actually finish the challenge and post it. The following card was interesting to do. I printed out  the background on vellum so I could choose a base color. I am using the same background for all of the July birthday cards. While the words show blurry, they are perfectly clear on the actual card.. The cupcake is an SU punch. I heat embossed the frosting and the candle. I need to replace the bauble that I used for the candle flame before I send this card off to...
If you haven't checked out the 365 Cards Challenges, go on over there and check it out.  Have a good day and take care

Gimme A Break (GAB)
Theme Challenge #20  Anything summer

Its nearly Father's Day, do you think this is manly enough? It needs some sort of sentiment, like "Son" or "Dad". No room to put much on it, but I just don't feel its done. Anyway...
I used two cricut cartridges, Paper doll Dress up and Summer Vacation. Used buttons and half pearls for the wheels and gems for the door handle, rear light on the car and for the coconuts in the tree.
I had fun making this card, I haven't ever used more than one cartridge on a layout, so that was a new experience. My Everyday Paper Dolls was visiting my DIL or I would have used it, as it had all the things I wanted. But I adapt fairly easy, and this is what I came up with. Now its your turn.
Someone hacked the blogger account at GAB so the address has been changed. You can get there from HERE. Be sure to bookmark at the new address and become a follower.

GAB #19 Sketch

I forgot to post my DT contribution to the Gimme A Break (GAB) Challenge site for #19 a sketch. There are some very nice cards posted by the other DTs over there. If I had gotten mine posted, it would look like the card on the right. A fun sketch with so many possibilities. If you haven't already done so, head on over to the GAB challenge blog and enter your project. The address for the site has changed and you can get there from HERE.

My card was also used in the SSSD Mystery Item card swap this month. The mystery item I received is the flower. All the pieces of the flower except the button were included. I was to make a project using the item(s) and send to my partner. I hope she likes the card I made for her.
Thanks for stopping by. Take care

The card on the right was made using the sketch on the left for an SSSD swap: Sketch with a Picnic theme.
I was going to use some paper with ants all over it, but couldn't find it. Then decided I would use a Cricut cut. Hee hee, I don't have a cartridge with an ant or anything really picnicy on it. Forget the ants. Try for watermelon. I cut the watermelons from a print paper and the kids and melon are from a sticker set called Summer Picnic by PC. I'm not one for using stickers even tho I have loads of them. But those kids are so cute and the stickers matched the theme...
The checked paper is my idea of a tablecloth.  I used a border punch for the scollops. Needing embellishments, I put tiny black gems on the large melon and the seeds on the small melons is Stickles. I sure hope the person I sent this card to likes it.

My poor car got creamed Sunday morning. I and the other driver walked away unhurt. To make a long story short, I'm on an off ramp and this other car is coming towards me and the door I'm next to. She hits me just front of the front tire, pushes my front end into a cement embankment (with a drop on the other side). And she ends up with the nose of her car embedded in the middle of the side of my car.
To add insult to injury, she asks me if I hit her.
L front bumper
R front bumper, fender & door
Does her reasoning leave something to be desired? Especially when the front of her car is imbedded in the side of my car and I'm going the right direction on the off ramp.
She started out going the right direction on the ramp, but texting while driving sometimes causes problems for others. She spun out. This could have been so much worse.

Center driver side
Look closely at this picture. Any idea of what kind of car hit me? The only damage to her car was that it was scratched up across the nose.
I don't know what is going to happen with this; I don't know what she told the HP and it will take up to eight weeks to get the report.

I am, however, very thankful that neither of us was hurt.
Please don't use your phone or text while driving.
Thank you for coming by. Take care

GAB #18
Color Challenge
Baha Breeze, Tangerine Tango, Sahara Sand

I put this card together using the 365 Cards Sunday sketch #90. I never posted it for that challenge, because I don't think I'm suppose to post a DT project before its viral. In any case, I bought a new stamp and a new border punch and used them both here. I also heat embossed the stamped image. We used resist embossing in our last GAB challenge. I used a Twinklette pen for the gold flame on the candle and a clear sparkly pen on the frosting. The sparkles don't show up here, but in person, its just a little added touch.
Thanks for stopping by. Take care

365 cards Day 90
Super Sketchy Sunday

The solid cardstock is from SU, the pp is from JoAnn's. The butterfly is two parts cut using a Spellbinders die. I applied gems to the bottom wings and the top wings can be raised for a 3-D effect.. The orange on the butterfly was applied before removing the butterfly from the die. The corners of the card were cut using a Fiskers corner punch.
My card is not exactly like the 365 Cards sketch; I made it a standard card size. I was also trying to do more than one challenge in one card. OOps, not my best idea. This card looks much better in person. I don't do well taking pictures so I scan and scanning doesn't show the depth, the pop ups, etc.
By clicking here you can check out all the info for this sketch challenge and even post your own creation.

EMBOSS RESIST

This was a very interesting challenge. I spent several hours trying to come up with a project I would be proud to display. Alas, I came up with the following:

The girl and the flower stamps are from SU. I used a sponge to apply the green and my Zig pens for the red in the flowers. I was getting frustrated with this. I needed something for the GAB post and my time ran out, so went with the card on the left .The embossing resist technique was easy, the hard part was putting it with something that made me happy. I have played with it since, but can't seem to get anything to my satisfaction using these two stamps. I like them together, but there is something missing. Any ideas?
